Fieldstone Service Day - Fill the Pack with Volunteers of America

VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA - FILL THE PACK
For the second year in a row, we chose to support the Volunteers of America, Utah, Youth Resource Center, in their efforts to serve teens who are struggling with homelessness, addiction, and mental illness. We participated in their "Fill the Pack" program which involves providing backpacks with essential supplies for teenage boys and girls. These supplies include items like socks, underwear, school supplies, earbuds and more. We are so grateful for the opportunity we had to provide 72 backpacks to the Volunteers of America this year! Last year we made almost 50. This was a group effort with donations coming from employees of Fieldstone Homes, our trade partners, lending partners, and even our homebuyers!
As we dropped the backpacks off at the Volunteers of America in Salt Lake City the staff was in tears in gratitude for the backpacks. Thank you to everyone who helped put these together and donated. We'd also like to extend a special thanks to Kristen Oberhansly and Dani Hagemeister for leading the service project this year. Thank you!
Additional Information on How to Serve:
The Volunteers of America Utah offers many opportunities to serve! Among the many programs, they mentioned that they look for and NEED small groups to come in and serve lunch. The volunteer group typically plans the meal, provides the food, and goes into their facility to prepare the food and serve it. As you serve lunch you will have a chance to interact with the youth.
