Fieldstone Service Day - Red Cross Sound the Alarm
December 4, 2018 | Draper, Utah
THE AMERICAN RED CROSS SOUND THE ALARM
We would like to thank the American Red Cross for the opportunity we had to participate and serve the Salt Lake City community in the Sound the Alarm program. Multiple times throughout the year our company looks for opportunities to provide community service and this year the Red Cross was able to accommodate 65 Fieldstone Homes employees as we went out and made contact with over 400 homes.
The Sound the Alarm program from the American Red Cross is an initiative to install free smoke alarms in at-risk communities across 100+ cities in the United States. According to the Red Cross, seven people die in home fires each day, and most are in homes that lack working smoke alarms. Our service project was to canvass at-risk neighborhoods, install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing smoke alarms, and provide fire prevention and safety education to the community residents.
Summary of Success!
- 65 Fieldstone Homes team members participated
- Contacted over 400 homes, whether installing smoke detectors, talking to residents, or leaving door hangers for follow-up services
- Installed smoke alarms in over 36 homes, and provided fire-safety education
- Installed 41 alarms and changed 13 alarm batteries
The Sound the Alarm program from the American Red Cross is truly an incredible initiative to make homes in our community a safer place and we are grateful for the opportunity to have participated.
Additional Information:
If other groups/individuals would like to install smoke detectors as a one-day event/service project reach out to our coordinator directly at toni.wise@redcross.org, or call him at 801-232-7002.
