These are 6 of the most popular interior design trends of 2020 you'll instantly want to add to your home.
Looking for interior design ideas to decorate and update your home? Want to know the most popular interior design trends of 2020? There's no better way to update the look of your home than with what's trending in the interior design world. You can feel assured that your house looks fresh and up-to-date after painting your family room with Pantone's Color of the Year or adding modern furniture to your space.
In the first few months of 2020, these are 6 of the most popular interior design trends being predicted and seen for this year. We're excited to share them with you! Take a look...
1. Geometric Shapes
Not everything has to be a brand new design to be a trend. For example, geometric shapes are making waves through curved sofas, armchairs, nightstands, coffee tables, and more, taking us back to the '60s and '70s with a more updated approach including circular, rectangular, and striped features. You can easily incorporate this trend into your home by tossing a few rounded throw pillows on your living room couch, finding abstract artwork to hang on your walls, or bringing in a thrifted curved accent chair to your office space.
2. Texture
Texture adds visual interest to any room. This interior design trend will be shown through decor, from pillows to blankets and vases to baskets. The look and feel of each decorative piece will stand out and update any room that might appear bland and boring. The key to adding textured elements into a room is to try and stick to one color scheme or a few so it's not overwhelming and maintains a theme.
3. Two-Tone Cabinets
The two-tone cabinets trend isn't going anywhere soon. They've made it for several years now and for good reason. People are wanting more color within their homes and one way to do so is through the use of two-tone cabinets. This adds a pop of color or contrast to what could've been a completely neutral space. We like this trend so much that we've incorporated it as a design option within many of our homes.
4. Sustainability
We're all becoming more and more aware of what we put not only in our bodies but also in our homes. The conscious consumer is considering what furniture and decor will have a positive impact on the world by choosing more sustainable materials like bamboo or natural rattan over cheaper and less durable products. This trend brings nature indoors and a calming atmosphere to your living space. Decorating with houseplants is another sustainable option that can add nature inside while filtering the air.
5. Minimalism
Minimalism is all about simplifying everything, which goes hand in hand with the sustainability trend. This 'less is more' approach to living has trickled into the design world as well. We'll be seeing fewer decor pieces, with decorations all being functional. This might include mugs, bowls, and plates on shelving, and books, plants, and candles on coffee tables, with all of the items serving a purpose. Think clean, simple, organized. Minimalism interior design includes simplified and modern furniture, sleek features from lighting to chair legs, and monochromatic color. This design trend is our favorite and we hope it's here to stay.
6. The Color - Pantone Classic Blue
Classic Blue, Pantone's Color of the Year is a deep blue and is sure to trend fast! You'll notice this color being incorporated within homes in a number of ways, whether that be through ottomans, books, picture frames, or accent walls and more. There's no stopping with this color, especially since it's a darker shade of blue and can replace neutral shades within just about any room. For example, gray bedding in your bedroom can easily be swapped out and replaced with a Classic Blue comforter. Adding this color will update your space in no time!
